Our breast cancer survivor dragon boat team is supported by an experienced and caring coaching staff that offers inspiring leadership on and off the water.


Head Coach - Di Clohessy

Our Head Coach

As well as being a highly skilled paddler, our Head Coach, Di is a breast cancer survivor who understands the physical and emotional journey of a breast cancer diagnosis.

Dragons Abreast Brisbane is blessed to have a very experienced coach on board who has personally experienced all levels of paddling including representing Queensland and Australia in the Auroras.

Di is a qualified dragon boat coach who offers and encourages all our paddlers, from novice & social levels too experienced and competitive paddler’s her expert advise on the skills, techniques and commitment required to master the sport of dragon boat paddling at whatever level they wish to paddle.

Di has achieved AusDBF Level 2 Coaching Accreditation.


Our Assistance Coach

Sue Von Richter, Assistance Coach

Sue is our Assistant Coach and has achieved AusDBF Level 1 Coaching Accreditation.


Sue joined Dragons Abreast Brisbane in 2015 and hit the ground running. In the space of 5 short years she has been Coordinator for 3 years, Assistant Team Manger for the IBCPC Festival in Florence, Team Manager for two Sydney Festivals.



Caring For Each Paddler

As well as ensuring our dragon boat works in harmony as a team, MBT’s coaching staff also care that each paddler is able to achieve their personal fitness goals.

All members of Dragons Abreast Brisbane receive support with on the water training and development.

Team Missabittatitti training sessions include:

  • Motivational coaching to help you perform your best
  • Challenging but enjoyable training drills
  • Highly knowledgeable of racing tactics and strategies

Regardless of whether you join MBT to paddle socially or are interested in challenging yourself to become a sports level dragon boat paddling, our coaching teamwork will work with you to improve your paddling technique and obtain optimal fitness and movement.
