Since our beginnings in 2000, Dragons Abreast Brisbane members have been collecting memories of the wonderful moments we have shared - both on and off the water.

This gallery covers Team Missabittatitti's participation in events up until mid-2020.

Over the years we have had annual team photos taken.  We have collated the team photos in the one page.  Enjoy!

Missabittatitti had a great time paddling at Lake Kawana for the State champs. Considering the lack of paddling opportunities for training due to COVID and floods, we did very well earning silver for both 500 and 200m events.

DBQ State Championships, Kawana - 7th & 8th March, 2020

Well what a way to celebrate International Women’s Day. Three gold, two bronze and the Janelle Gamble trophy. Thanks Coach Di who did an awesome job with the assistance of Sue VR and all paddlers, sweeps and drummers who gave it their all over the two days. Thanks also to those who came and supported their team whether they were able to be on the water or not and to those who were there with us in spirit and who sent messages of support to us all. It made all the difference and we carried you with us in our hearts all the way.

2019 Ord River Marathon, Kununurra WA - 9th June, 2019

“ I have no words for today.... saying it was overwhelming, incredible, amazing just doesn’t do it
justice. Loved every second and was so blessed to share the boat with bloody legends. Now to eat,
drink and be merry. I didn’t have my phone on the Ord so will probs bore you to tears as the other
pics come in. Life is such a gift, take every opportunity to explore this world and step outside your
comfort zone. You just never know where the magic is hiding - Deb Heslin

12 Members Completed the gruelling 55km paddle from Lake Argyle to Kununurra.

High Tea Fundraising Event,

Royal Queenland Yacht Squadron 9th May, 2019

What a fantastic day was had by all at the MBT High Tea yesterday. Fantastic effort by Meredith and her band of merry helpers and all attendees from within the club and from outside who dug deep into their hearts and their pockets to support our major fundraiser of the year. It was an Absolutely Fab day !

AusDBF Nationals, Weston Park, Canberra - 21st & 22nd April, 2019

26 Members headed down to Canberra for the 2019 AusDBF Nationals. Racing was over 500m & 200m in Small boats.

We came home with some wonderful memories and two Silver Medals.

Corina was presented with an award to commemorate her selection as the DAA Flag Bearer in the 2018 Nationals.  The award was extra special as she could share it with both her Mother and Grandmother who were there to cheer the MBT teams on.

NZDBA Nationals, Lake Karapiro New Zealand - 5th & 6th April, 2019

24 MBT Members and 3 Supporters headed across the Tasman to join our New Zealand Sisters at their National Championships.  This was the first time in many years that MBT had made this journey.  On the first morning it was a very cool 5 deg and the Lake was covered in fog - needless to say racing was postponed until the fog lifted.

The welcome given to us by all of our Kiwi counterparts was absolutely amazing, from the rousing warm ups of dancing and singing, to the powerful and emotional Haka performed at the end of the Flowers on the Water ceremony.

This was one trip that touched the hearts of all that attended and we can't wait to join our Kiwi Sisters at this venue for the IBCPC festival in 2022.

DBQ State Championships, Kawana - 23rd & 24th March, 2019

Day 1 of States and a great time was had by all. 1st, 4th and 5th in the BCS final and winner of the Janelle Gamble trophy. Certainly worth celebrating with a team dinner.

What an amazing team of women. Day 2 of states and MBT takes out 1st and 3rd in the BCS final. What an awesome effort by everyone whether they were in the boat or cheering from the sidelines . You are all winners each and every one of you 🥇 🥇 🥉

Te Waka Regatta, Kawana - 10th March 2019

A fun day was had by all who attended the Te Waka regatta. It was a hot one both on and off the water with MBT competing in the mixed 20’s and fielding two teams in the BCS category. Fantastic performances by all and another trophy for the cabinet. Next stop states and nationals. Bring it on !!

A lot of our MBT paddlers, including supporters joined thousands of paddlers from around the world.  We gathered in Florence for a fantastic participative regatta.

Burleigh Regatta, Varsity Lakes - 18th November, 2018

This is always a great regatta, with the highlight being the "round the islands" race to finish off the day.

We started first and were only chased down by one crew on the home straight.  A fantastic effort when we were up against all sports crews and most of them had all male crews.

We just loved our Christmas gathering with Pink Connections looking after us.

Great turnout for a come and try - part of our participation in DAA National Paddle Month

Our beloved Pink Connections hosted our Christmas Party.  A fantastic time and we loved our annual CD provided with various Christmas songs provided by Barry Spollen.

DAA hosted a stat regatta for all DAA members in QLD.  It was a fantastic, well run event with our QLD paddlers joining for a weekend of paddling and celebration.

In 2009 we held a golf day at the Nudgee College Gold Course - dress up of course.  A great turn out for a "FUN"draiser.

We were thrilled to unveil the two boats with Janelle and Blair Gamble.  Missabittatitti Too and Pink Gamble

Sydney 2008 we participated in the Chinese New Year regatta.

MBT participated in the Pan Pacs Masters on the Gold Coast.

The first IBCPC event - MBT joined paddlers from around the globe to paddle and celebrate life.

in 2015 a group of MBT paddlers and their supporters went to Vancouver in Canada - for the 10th Anniversary of the breast cancer movement.  This w

as the beginning of international breast cancer paddling events - the next one being Abreast in Australia 2007.

MBT were excited to host kids/teens from CanTeen for a come and try.  Canteen is an Australian not-for-profit that provides free and tailored support to young people aged 12-25 who are impacted by cancer. Whether they are dealing with their own diagnosis, a close family member’s cancer or the death of a loved one.  Our very own Gayle Creed's children were involved in the day.  It was fun and everyone, MBT and the kids/teens had a great time together.

In 2005 Kerrie Loman (d) invited MBT to join her in St George to help with a come and try - to promote DAA in the region. We arrived with some BRD supporters, and Michelle Hanton (DAA founder) to encourage the come and try paddlers.  We had a terrific time, lodging in the pickers quarters, playing at the St George show, pulling a large truck and participating in wheelie bin races. We even had a coule of uni students filiming along the way for an assignment.

Members from MBT joined other DAA groups paddling on the Ord River.  It was the Ord River marathon - a 55km paddle along the beautiful Ord River near Kununurra in northern WA. This was the first for DAA and Australian Story did a program on it ("In the Pink").   It was pretty tough - there were a few in the boat who had not paddled much, but we got there in the end, feeling pretty proud of ourselves.

A major milestone for Dragons Abreast Australia.  Our Brisbane group joined other DA groups in our nations capital - Canberra, paddling on the lovely Lake Burley Griffin.  A wonderful celebration for all, including a visit from the wonder Dr Don McKenzie.

Very early days for Brisbane at Hinze Dam.
