Australian Nationals April 5, 2019

Over the Easter long-weekend, Team Missabittatitti competed in the 2019 Australian National Dragon Boat Championships in Canberra, ACT.

And as always, Dragons Abreast Brisbane sent a team of strong and motivated paddlers up for the challenge.

AusChamps 2019

Each year, AusChamps (as it is known), is held in a different Australian State or Territory.

In April 2019, Australia’s toughest dragon boat event is returning to Lake Burley Griffin at Yarralumla.

AusChamps is the premium dragon boat competition in Australia. The championship event is not just for breast cancer survivor dragon boat clubs. The regatta receives entries from 72 clubs, with over 2,500 paddlers from across Australia ready to get on the water.

What is everyone fighting for?

As well the honour, our breast cancer survivor team is working towards the chance to race against the best.

Eligibility for the Club Crew World Championships (CCWC) in France in August 2020 depends on a stellar performance at AusChamps.

And with limited positions available, Team Missabittatitti’s performance was wonderful to watch.

Competiting in timed heats against other Australian breast cancer crews, MBT entered two boats and our performance on the water did not disappoint.

Our hardworking dragon boat team came home with Silver medals, just missing out on the Gold to Dragons Abreast Sydney.

2020 Australian National Dragon Boat Championships

The hard work never stops.

In 2020, AusChamps will be hosted by Dragon Boat New South Wales, and the event will take place at the Sydney International Regatta Centre (SIRC)  in Penrith from Wednesday 8 April through to Monday 13 April 2020.
