Brisbane River Dragons
Brisbane River Dragons Dragon Boat and Outrigger Canoe Club Inc (BRD) was established in 1998 and is Brisbane’s oldest dragon boat club.
Since its inception in 2000, Dragon’s Abreast Brisbane has always maintained close ties with BRD both on and off the water.
In order to be a member of DAB, a person must also be a paying member of a recognised dragon boat paddling club in Queensland. Most of our members choose to be a member of BRD.
BRD shares its facilities and equipment with MBT, including:
- Clubhouse facilities with storage, resources for meetings, gym and fitness equipment such as erg and rowing machines
- Dragon Boats, Kayaks and Outrigger Canoes
- PFDs and other safety devices
- Paddles and sweep oars
Improving Paddling Skills
Both Brisbane River Dragons and Team Missabittatitti train out of the same beach at the Colmslie Reserve.
BRD offers the chance for MBT members to improve their paddling technique with experienced sports and competitive paddling or semi-competitive paddling.
MBT members are entitled (and encouraged) to attend BRD sports paddling training sessions and receive coaching and training from BRD coaches.
Many MBT paddlers also paddle with BRD during sports regattas.
