Love, Laughter and Bubbles
Dragons Abreast Brisbane has hosted another successful High Tea Event.
And what an event it was!
From the moment you were handed your glass of bubbles and stepped inside the function rooms to mingle with the well-dressed crowd at Manly’s Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, it was clear this not just any Sunday.
This was going to be Absolutely Fabulous!
Glammed up and in high spirits, over 150 guests attending the High Tea event in support of Team Missabittatitti.
Guests shared traditional afternoon tea treats presented on three-tier trays, plus special extras and bottomless cups of tea and coffee. Plus how could we forget the extra special Lindt Lindor Strawberry and Cream ball?
As well as this mouthwatering spread and impeccable service fit for only the most fabulous supplied by Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, a special appearance was made by Patsy from Ab Fab.
Ohhh Darlings!!
While there were so many highlights, including best shoes, the real feature of our breast cancer fundraising event had to be Professor Owen Ung, MBBS FRACS FAICD Surgery UQ.
Professor Ung’s observations as a clinical and researcher were both insightful and inspirational. As well as reflecting on the historical medical treatments for breast cancer, Professor Ung also shared with guests his own experiences throughout his career as a Breast Cancer and Endocrine Surgeon.
He also the focused on groundbreaking trajectory of future breast cancer care, emphasizing that as advances in science continue at an accelerated speed, breast cancer patients and breast cancer survivors can look forward to better outcomes and more surgical choices.
Tree of Life
MBT has started a new tradition – bringing the positive energy, strength, and hope of our Dragons Abreast Brisbane Tree of Life to our High Tea events.
The Tree of Life prize was a joint effort. The painting was lovingly created by MBT member Willy Kranenburg and the diamond and 9ct pendant prize supplied by Sharron Hammond.
So Many Winners
The generosity of spirit and love and friendship could be felt in the room as new friends were made and old friends caught up.
With silent auctions, lucky door prizes, multi-draw raffles and other fun and games, there were so many many winners at our fundraising event.
Artist Janiinina Liddle was on hand to describe her inspiration for her stunning nude artwork, and guests also enjoyed access to the personal styling expertise of Margaret Sims from Stylish Baby Boomers and Image Consultant Ann Whittaker.
Bling It On!
An exciting bidding war took place over this exquisite Pink Zirconia pendant set in 9ct gold.
The iconic pink breast cancer ribbon cut into the back facets of the stone was donated by Tony Wheat. And the chance to own this unique piece of jewelry proved just too good to pass up.
The bidding war drew oohs, ahhs, and gasps from the captivated crowd. In the end, it was congratulations to Maria on securing this sparkling one-of-a-kind piece.

Also special thanks to John Feeney and Gavan Sanders for capturing beautiful moments with his photography, plus our own volunteers also work hard to make our fundraising efforts such a success.

Plus special thanks to those dedicated MBT members and Pink Connections volunteers who sold raffle tickets and worked behind the scenes to ensure our dragon boat club achieved our fundraising goals. Love and thanks to everyone!
